I don't think i'll cover the door panel itself, there's to many adjusting bolts/screws and necessary access pockets. Of course not the plug/screw holes for the paneling/trim but i'm leaving some roof rail and bottom side area open for the water seepage. I'm paying attention to the holes I cover. I'll work this junk to hopefully get it to stop leaking but later down the road i'll end up changing it out for Steele products, those are manufactured by Metro for what I hear.įor the sound deadening i'm using the Peel-and-Seal, great stuff! the more I add the less I hear a hollow/clank and more of a thud/clunk. So, YES!! (broken record) I would gather from the vast majority, that Steele is the better one to go with. it was a few dollars more, but that would have been ok. I think main reason why I didn't go with Steele Rubber was the $75 shipping fee. From all this, the quality of the rubber seems good but it isn't thick enough and looks like when they molded it, its "indented" in those 2 spots (creates a gap). and drivers side) the rear-top-in the corners and then about 3 inches going towards the front. it did help but it seems to still leak in the same 2 top spots on both sides (pass. I've adjusted the top part of the glass (in/out), and window (up/down) till i'm blue in the face, I've even added thin weather stripping strips on the back side all around. But, to save my live, I cant seal the water from trickling/streaming in around top part of the door glass. I had a few leaks around the 1/4 windows, and rear window where I missed, didn't have enough sealant, a very small spot where it trickled in. So for the last 2 weeks I've been working this. Here's an update on my Soff-seal window and door weather strips.JUNK!! I'm at the point of installing the interior (except dash /gauges) and I wanted to water test everything first. and saw post of the Peel & Seal Instant Waterproof Repairs 6-in x 25-ft Aluminum Roll Flashing Item # 154017 Model # PS625 at Lowes and Home Depot.was this the preferred stuff to use? Sound deadening material: I have some Thermo-tec for the floor but wanted to put more in the doors/roof etc. Was this still the preferred way (cheaper). Oh, and the Belt Weatherstrip / Window Scraper Seal (felt and rubber) This one I printed out a while back(I think I still have it ) was where to go to buy the material to redo the rails instead of buying them. So, sorry these 2 questions have been talked about many times for different year models and either help or the link to the post that refers would be appreciated.ĭoor weatherstrip: I'm in need roof rail and door weatherstrip and saw some old post (2012) about it but was wondering the current best choices.soffseal, metro (rockauto).mmm something steele in Colorado? Some post talked about where not to go and some where too go. Sometimes El Camino Central is too a good way.too much info.
